Police are seeking the operator of an Ontario dog rescue who they allege hanged her dog in a Toronto shelter this summer after it was removed from her care.

Toronto police Det.-Const. Tamara Lawrynowycz says the woman was supposed to be handing over the dog to a new owner and was given a leash and muzzle to get the pet ready.

NEWMARKET – They call him Lucky 191.
In a savage case of cruelty being probed by the OSPCA, a three-year-old dog was found abandoned roadside in Aurora, with the number 191 chemically burned into both sides of his body.

The poor pup was found near death with head wounds that also caused blindness in one eye.

York Regional Police Const. Netashia McLellan found the hound on Sunday afternoon, in the Bayview Ave. and Bloomington Rd. E. area, after responding to a 911 call for a dog needing medical aid.

“I’m a dog owner myself,” McLellan said Thursday. “It is sad to respond to a call like this.
